Meet Wylie
Wylie is a six-year sweetie with full trisomy-18. She is the youngest of the Duerson family with five siblings earthside. She loves conversations and music. She is learning to stand, walk, take tastes of food, and to communicate with her Tobii device. She is fulfilling God’s great purposes for her life by changing the lives of the people who get to know her love, strength, trust, and resilience.
Meet Pevie
I remember being told that my sweet little baby would not make it long in this world. I was told that children with Trisomy 13 would likely not live to be even a year old. But what I was not told is the amazing, joyful, resilient and vivacious little girl I would have the privilege to parent. I had no idea how much Pevie would love to put her toes in the sand and feel the waves roll over her feet. I couldn’t imagine the hysterical fits of laughter we would all have together as a result of her contagious laughter. Pevie isn’t typical but she’s downright amazing. She loves fiercely. Enjoys the simplicity of her toys and her home. Is always game for adventure and travel. Relishes everything to do with swimming and water. Adores her siblings more than anything. Gives kisses and hugs generously. Never judges. Always perseveres. Our curly haired, sweet girl is fearfully and wonderfully made.
Meet Jerzey
She is the happiest girl who loves to smile and giggle. She loves her family, her nurse, Bluey, and Gracie’s Corner. She can’t wait to come back to camp this year and see her friends!
Meet Jeremiah “JoJo”
Jeremiah Heller was born Nov 23rd 2022 at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN with mosaic Trisomy 18. He has been a fighter since day one when we came home on Hospice because we were told that he had biliary atresia. However, it ended up that he was misdiagnosed, he just had slow bowels and he kept fighting every obstacle including colds, UTI’s, and blood infections... By the grace of God, our cardiologist fast tracked him to a heart surgery to close a large VSD that changed his story from one of fighting to thriving! It was a hard first year but he has shown everyone how strong he is and has helped to change the narrative for Trisomy 18 at Vanderbilt. We are so excited to attend camp this year and his brother’s can’t wait to do lots of fun stuff with him and all our other friends who have become like family to us!
Meet Julia
Julia Choe was diagnosed with Trisomy 18, or Edwards Syndrome, during her mother’s first trimester of pregnancy. Surviving birth, Julia began to show the world she is compatible with life each day after, which has now turned into years of strength and perseverance. At seven years old, Julia continues her mission to thrive after undergoing numerous hospital visits, surgeries, doctor visits, and therapies. Living in Austin with her family, Julia attends public elementary school where the students and faculty embrace her differences, and provide inclusive opportunities for her. While not attending doctor appointments and therapy sessions, Julia enjoys swimming with her brother and sister, listening to music, watching movies and reading books.
