Meet Miley

Miley was placed with us, voluntarily, by her birth mother for adoption in April 2022 due to a lack of resources in their rural town and the stress of raising a complex child as a single mother with 3 other children. She was on hospice at the time and we were given a very poor prognosis of her living much longer. In fact, we had our first PICU stay before we could even leave her home state to bring her home. She has a large open VSD & accompanying Pulmonary Hypertension. We have had our ups and downs and prepared ourselves for the worst on many occasions, but she has pushed through each and every time. She amazes us with her strength every day. She is the most joyful child and has the silliest personality. If she cries we know something is really wrong. She was even named for her personality as we were trying to decide on a name. One of our other children said “How about Miley, like smiley Miley!”
